After an unfortunate event of the website being hacked, we are experiencing difficulties in loading photos to the website. The names of the winners are listed below and photos of their winning entries will be uploaded as soon as the problem has been rectified.
With an overwhelming resonse to the competition, and an absolute abundance of entries, we finally narrowed it down to a select few that we found stood out just that extra little bit in the competition. It was definately a tough decision, with so many unique and well made designs but it is with great pleasure that we announce to you all the winners of the New Zealand Beading Supplies Jewellery Making Awards.
Open Award for Excellence 1st Prize of a Bead Traveller Carry Case Filled with Beads, Findings and much more (value $500) goes to... Jen Meiklejohn Jen created this beautiful design using 28ga artistic wire, crocheting it into elegant daisies. Definately one of the initial stand out pieces received. The neckalce is understatedly fixed to a seed bead necklace which allows the focus to remain on the intricate wire work. An exquisite piece that had been excellently hand crafted. Well done Jen!
2nd Prize of a Mini Bead Traveller Carry Case filled with Beads, Findings and much more (value $200) goes to.... Wendy Hart with her beautiful entry "Amour d'Autumne" Meaning 'Autumn Love', this superbly hand crafted necklace is stunning. The uniqueness of this piece caught our eyes immediately. Wendy has used a combination of cord, shell, coral, pearls, seed beads and metal leaves to create a work of art. The detail and preciseness in this design is overwhelming. An absolute credit to the Jewellery design community of New Zealand. Congratulations Wendy!

As you were all aware, the major prize was a lucky draw to all entrants that took part in the competition. Congratulations to ALL winners and thank you to everyone who entered. There was so many fantastic entries it made it very difficult to narrow it down to just a few winners. We hope that you will all participate again next year, and wish you all happy beading :)
